There are many plans in a man’s heart,
Nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand.
- Proverbs 19:21

The point of the proverb is that man can make a whole lot of plans, but in the end, God will work out His sovereign will. The question is, By trying to follow our own plans are we missing out on the blessings of following His plans and working alongside of Him?

We have continually sought the Lord’s counsel and prayed that we would hear it above all of our own human plans. He has taken us on an interesting ride through many turns and bumpy roads. But as we look back at the road we have traveled, we see purpose and blessing and we praise God!

As we have finally come to the point of constructing a building on land He has provided for us on Nichols Sawmill Rd., we are excitedly anticipating the Lord’s continued direction.

May I ask that you join us in prayer if you are not already and pray for a few things on top of what you are already praying?

1.Pray for wisdom, humility and direction for the Construction Committee and the Elders. These people are humans making huge decisions that impact many people. They need the supernatural counsel and direction of the Lord.

2. Pray for integrity and a Christ-like attitude in our business dealings. It is a fact that during a building project, problems arise. Handling these problems with wisdom and maturity will speak volumes about our faith. Both dealing with the building professionals and even with our own brothers and sisters during the process can be an opportunity either for Satan to get a toe hold or for God to be glorified. Pray for God’s glory.

3. Pray for the congregation. This is an exciting time for everyone. But we need to keep the whole congregation lifted up in prayer. Pray that God continues to develop His heart in each of us to see both the process and the finished product as an opportunity for ministry to those within and outside the church.

4. Pray for various ministries within the church. As each ministry prepares to transition into a new facility, there are a lot of things to consider and logistics for which to plan. Pray that the ministries are able to effectively continue what God has begun in them throughout the process and on into a new facility.

5. Pray for financial provision to be able to timely pay off the building and to continue current ministry growth. We have bitten off a big chunk at one time. Because the church ministries have grown and are fairly mature ministries; and because building all at once is much more cost effective; and because interest rates and construction costs are at some of the lowest levels in a very long time; we felt that the best stewardship decision was to build now. We trust God will provide the resources so that current ministries will not be hindered.

6. Pray for safety of the workers. Construction can be a dangerous occupation. Safety is extremely important.

7. Pray for the salvation of the workers and anyone else involved in this building process. It is probably safe to assume that many of the construction workers are not Christians. How many times does a church have 20 to 50 unsaved, unchurched people come to their church everyday for months at a time? Now that construction has started, we have a mission field right at our door! Consider taking some “goodies” to the work site and letting the workers know we are praying them.

8. Pray that God would be pleased and glorified throughout the whole building process!
